A person who laced candy with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at the location in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She explained the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor explained items including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member notified the law enforcement a second time.
She explained Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
